Meet Moss – A Well-Started Young Wood Turtle

Moss is a healthy 9-month-old Wood Turtle that has been captive bred and carefully raised under consistent husbandry conditions. Since hatching, careful attention has been given to nutrition, hydration, enclosure maintenance, and shell development, allowing Moss to mature into a well-established juvenile with excellent overall condition.

As is common with juvenile Wood Turtles, the sex has not yet been determined with confidence. Reliable sex identification generally becomes possible once the turtle reaches greater maturity.

Moss has a strong appetite and eagerly accepts a varied diet that includes leafy greens, vegetables, earthworms, insects, quality turtle pellets, and other species-appropriate foods. Regular calcium supplementation and proper UVB exposure have supported healthy skeletal development and smooth shell growth.

Throughout the day, Moss enjoys moving between the land and shallow water areas of the enclosure, basking under heat and UVB lighting, and exploring natural enrichment. These normal behaviors, together with steady growth and healthy body condition, reflect the quality care provided from an early age.
