Basil is a thriving 12-month-old Russian Tortoise that has been captive bred and raised with careful attention to proper husbandry, balanced nutrition, and healthy shell development. Well established and feeding confidently, Basil is ready to join a keeper looking for a healthy juvenile tortoise with an excellent start in life.

At this stage of development, the sex has not yet been determined, which is entirely normal for juvenile Russian Tortoises. Reliable sex identification generally becomes possible only after additional years of growth.

Basil has been raised on a varied, fiber-rich diet consisting primarily of grasses, dandelion leaves, plantain weeds, clover, broadleaf weeds, and other suitable leafy vegetation. Calcium supplementation and appropriate UVB lighting have been part of the husbandry program from an early age, supporting healthy skeletal development and smooth shell growth.

Throughout the day, Basil enjoys grazing, exploring the enclosure, basking beneath the heat source, and moving between warmer and cooler areas as part of a natural daily routine. Healthy body condition, firm shell structure, bright eyes, and a well-aligned beak all reflect the consistent care provided since hatching.
